Continuing the efficient design direction General Motors began with the 1955 Chevy Sedan Delivery, the 1957 Chevy Sedan Delivery
(designated Model-1508 by GM) was essentially a 2 door 150 Handyman station wagon, with plain steel panels replacing the side windows.
Also unique to the Sedan Delivery was the one-piece rear hatch that hinged at the top, and replaced the wagon's separate upper window frame and
lower drop-down tailgate. Unlike the wagon, Chevy's 1957 Sedan Delivery replaced the rear seat and storage area with a utilitarian flat plywood floor painted black
and the front seat was replaced with 2 simple "bucket seat" styled seats. The Sedan Delivery is considered a "commercial" vehicle so it
came standard with a simple black rubber front floor mat, and very few other amenities (in fact the rear view mirror and front door
interior armrests had to be ordered as "options"!). Although few of the frugal business owners who ordered a new 1957 Chevrolet Sedan Delivery
specified many options for their new "work truck", most all 1957 Chevy options (except fuel injection and the dual 4-barrel
carburetor setup) were available for the Sedan Delivery. Both 6-cylinder and V8 engine choices were available for the '57 Chevy Sedan Delivery,
but unfortunately, the 2-tone paint options were not. Compared to other 1957 Chevy body styles, relatively few Sedan Deliveries were sold, making
the 1957 Chevrolet Sedan Delivery a somewhat rare sight today. Finding a '57 Chevy Sedan Delivery in stock form is rarer still, since the Delivery's
simplicity, relative light weight and clean lines has made the body style very popular with drag racers and hot rodders.
